Eleanor and I first met 30 years ago whilst indulging in our passion for birds at Pitsford Reservoir in Northamptonshire.
I am a retired police officer who has maintained an avid interest in wild birds and other wildlife all my life. I am familiar with most of the well-known birdwatching sites in the county of Northamptonshire and with Eleanor have travelled extensively throughout the UK. The wonder of migration and the challenge of bird identification stimulates much of my interest. I am licensed to catch and ring wild birds and am a voluntary warden at Pitsford Reservoir. Here my regular tasks include the maintenance of wild bird feeding stations and committing to survey work such as Wetland Birds (WeBS) and Common Bird Census (CBC).
Eleanor is a retired nurse who has similarly studied birds and wildlife all her life. She is an experienced field worker and regularly covers local patches such as Harrington Airfield, the Brampton Valley and Pitsford Reservoir. Eleanor is often to be found in company with her pet Border Collies and sees many of her birds whilst exercising the dogs. Eleanor also commits to census work as a voluntary warden at Pitsford Reservoir.
We have been fortunate to have also travelled worldwide with our birding friends in pursuit of wild birds and other wildlife.

Hi Neil
I am using the only way I ha e to contact you as the little birch cabin email address is closed.
I just wanted to let you know that the cabin will be open for holiday let's again soon. I know you did a number of ringing sessions at the cabin and thought you might want to continue. It now has a sunny new sitting room extension and a log burner but is essentially the same cabin with as much wildlife as ever.
If you were interested in visiting again the business is now run by Chris and Angie who have always owned the cabin. They will be using Airbnb soon but his number is 07725867918 if you wanted to ask anything. The web site isn't open it will just be airbnb bookings but I let chris know I would contact you. He is interested in your findings and would be happy for you to continue ringing at the cabin if you stayed.
I hope you and Eleanor are well.
Best wishes
Jenny
