Hello
Persistent fog and mist frustrated would-be birders today and there may be some more of the same weather tomorrow.
Birds glimpsed in the murk at Pitsford Reservoir today included a Jack Snipe, two Common Snipe and three Stonechats - all in the Scaldwell Bay.
It must have been clearer at Stanford Reservoir as Chris saw four White-fronted Geese, four Egyptian Goose, a Cackling Goose, thirteen Goosanders, at least twenty-five Great White Egrets, a Pintail and an adult Caspian Gull.
Two Scaup were on the Titchmarsh reserve at Thrapston Pits this afternoon plus a Pintail, a Marsh Harrier, a Peregrine and three Stonechats.
A flock of twenty-two White-fronted Geese flew south west at Blueberry Farm, Maidwell this afternoon.
A Little Owl was in Hanging Houghton village this evening and a Barn Owl and a Short-eared Owl were in the Brampton Valley below the village, the latter heading off towards Brixworth.
Regards
Neil M
