Hello
Another cool and blustery day with some heavy showers including hail later in the afternoon.
The birds of the day were two summer plumage Black-necked Grebes on the Main Lake at Summer Leys LNR and they were reported throughout. Other birds there included a Whimbrel, an Avocet, a Dunlin, a Great White Egret and the Glossy Ibis which was later reported from nearby Hardwater Lake.
A Hobby was seen over the A6 near Irthlingborough and morning birds at Clifford Hill Pits were two Ringed Plovers and three Dunlin.
A Naturetrek Day Tour around the reserve at Pitsford Reservoir was all about dodging showers, particularly late in the afternoon! Mammals included a Stoat and Roe Deer and the more interesting birds were two Yellow-legged Gulls, four first year Common Gulls, a Raven and a Great White Egret.
Regards
Neil M
