Hello
Another unseasonably warm day which again brought out the butterflies and other insects.
A visit to Lilbourne Water Meadows provided at least two Little Ringed Plovers, a Redshank, three Oystercatchers and eleven Common Snipe this morning. Fourteen Roe Deer was a huge number for such a small area!
A Grey Wagtail was in the Brampton Valley below Brixworth, a Raven was at Hanging Houghton and a pair of Siskins were at Scotland Wood, with the male feeding the female. A Little Owl and one hundred and twenty Golden Plovers were in the Brampton Valley below Hanging Houghton.
At Summer Leys LNR the highlights were the Glossy Ibis still, a Bittern this evening and up to three Grass Snakes on show. Birds at Whiston Wetlands included a Shelduck and a Great White Egret. A hybrid Red-crested Pochard was at Kislingbury Pits.
A Common Sandpiper was again on the causeway at Pitsford Reservoir and the Red-throated Diver was still at Hollowell Reservoir this afternoon.
Regards
Neil M
