Grey day birding

Hello

Rain at the beginning and end of another short period of daylight!

A drake Ring-necked Duck was a great find on the Titchmarsh Reserve at Thrapston Pits today where there was also a Marsh Harrier.

The Black-necked Grebe was still at Pitsford Reservoir today and still in the Pintail Bay - a Raven and a Brambling were in the Walgrave Bay.

The drake American Wigeon and two female Scaup were at Eyebrook Reservoir and a single Glossy Ibis was at Stanford Reservoir.

A Grey Wagtail has been hanging around our garden at Hanging Houghton for the last couple of days and two Redpolls were brief visitors today.

Five Crossbills were at Wakerley Wood, four hundred yards along the main track from the car park and a male Blackcap and a Stonechat were at Summer Leys LNR.

Bedfordshire birders are enjoying their first Hume's Leaf Warbler at Marston Vale Millennium Country Park.

Regards

Neil M

Very much an urban bird now, particularly of roof tops, mostly during the non-breeding months. Adds a splash of colour to man-made world!

Yes, beautiful yellow markings, I used to mix this up with the Pied wagtail? Which is just grey and white ?
